What I am most proud of:
I am very proud of my two kids. My son is a Staff Sargeant in Special Forces in the Army, and my daughter is a Commercial Loan Officer in Houston at a Major Bank. I am also very proud of the fact that I earned my Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Texas in Austin in 1992.

Favorite high school memory:
I guess my favorite memory from high school was all the track meets and band events that I participated in and the comradery that was shared with other friends.

Something about me:
I have worked for over 35 years in education from the elementary level to Graduate school in various school districts in the state to Texas A&M at Commerce. I have been a school administrator for almost 28 years and I am still going strong. I retired once but couldn't stand the down time so I went back to the high school level as an Assistant Principal. When I do retire again I plan on moving to Cypress Fairbanks to be closer to my children and grandchildren and ride my motorcycle as much as I can. You know there is something about having the wind blowing through your hair as you ride( Not) I'm bald like my Dad was.

Who I want to see at reunion:
I would like to see all the kids from band and athletics that were such an important part of my life when I was young as well as see how Deer Park has changed since I have been gone.

What I am most proud of:
Having God's favor to get me to this stage of my life. I am so blessed and do not even deserve it in my eyes.

Favorite high school memory:
Going dancing and to the beach. The powder puff football game was great fun even though I know nothing about football.

Something about me:
I am retired from the telephone company after 32 years. I have worked since retirement as a stage hand at the 1894 Opera House in Galveston, senior citizen caregiver to many, exchange program coordinator for high school foreign exchange students and been host mom to 11 students from around the world, Hong Kong, Thailand, Germany, France, Turkey, Poland and Indonesia. I never had biological kids but I am a mom, no less. Recently after being single for 14 years I met someone of interest on of all places, eHarmony.com and it has been a great new experience. I have become a kayak fisherlady and it is so much fun.

Who I want to see at reunion:
I always love seeing Sherry Divin. It is nice to see Ethana King. Linda Fortner would be nice to see there, also.

What I am most proud of:
Being blessed with three of the most terrific men on this earth in my life: Mitch and our two sons, Brooks (35) and Todd (32). (Mitch paid me to type that!) Being an American, living my life as a southern christian lady with no regrets, learning to love NASCAR racing, playing dodgeball with our three grandsons: ages 8 and 5 year old twins ( I am usually the target) and living each day to it's fullest--Carpe Diem!

Favorite high school memory:
Water balloon fights at Barbara Prescott's house, sneaking out of Sharon Vise's house to wrap Coach Dawson's house, missing all my Deepwater buddies when I moved to DP in 1965, slumber parties at Beverly Bass' house, cracking raw eggs over Louis Howard and Gary Dancey's heads on Halloween, being in the Spanish Club with Joe Slovacek, riding to school in Mitch's 1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible, swimming in the outdoor pool at North Campus (used to be our junior high)too bad it's not there any more, being in English IV (Mr. Trent, Super Trent) my senior year with all the really, really, smart kids and made A+'s all year!!! and last & most memorable, hanging out with Mitch Baker and all his wild friends, who all became my friends too.

Something about me:
I am probably just like all the rest of our class...chubby and sassy! Mitch and I have been married for 38.75 years, plus the five years it took me to convince him that I was the perfect match for him, so that is a total of 43.75 years we have been together. It's been interesting. He is retired and I am still working at DPISD, North Campus, just for a little while longer. Our oldest son Brooks said "Mom if you retire you will ruin all of Daddy's fun..." and I said "honey, I am your Daddy's fun". He didn't say another word, just smiled and gave me a hug. And that statement just about sums up my life...it's all been a fun ride, just because of Mitch Baker.

Who I want to see at reunion:
I would love to see all our classmates who are no longer with us....just one more time. God bless all their souls for all the laughter and fun times they brought into our lives.

|
|
|

What I am most proud of:
Making my 2nd marriage successful for 27 years . . . of course, I couldn't have done it without my wife, Patsy, at my side.

Favorite high school memory:
There are too many to list, but playing baseball and going to the football and basketball games was always a blast. Chasing the girls was also exciting, since I couldn't catch many of the ones I wanted.

Something about me:
Work at Shell Trading downtown Houston. Worked in the oil and gas business my whole career. Attend Foundry United Methodist Church and still play on the church softball team and sing in the choir. Lead a Promise Keepers group that meets each Sunday eve

Who I want to see at reunion:
I hope Randy Embry and "QT" (you know who you are) are able to make it. Also, Bo Derek, Marie Osmond (I want to dance with her) and Valerie Bertinelli. Well, you didn't say they had to be OUR classmates!!!

What I am most proud of:
I'm proudest of my two great sons, Ronnie Jr. and Austin, and my long marriage to Ron. It's been a great ride these last 40 years, with my family, We have added a daughter-in-law, Kim, who fits right in with our family, and I hope our family continues to grow over the years. (Can you tell I want a second daughter-in-law and grandchildren???!!!).

Favorite high school memory:
High school was such a great time for me and there are so, so many great memories. Some of the best times were when we were just hanging out together. Whether it was hanging out at Danna Daniel's or Beverly Bass's house, jumping out of moving pickup trucks (Vickie - remember that??), getting a soft drink at Carl's or the Dairy Queen and making it last for a couple of hours, or dancing at the 'Slant', it was all great fun and great memories.

Something about me:
I have worked for the same company for 34 years and I have had a great career, but enough is enough! I do work long hours and keep saying I am going to retire any day, but my friends think I will work forever. Contrary to what my friends think, I really do hope to retire in 2009. Once retired and after I finish all those projects I put on hold until retirement (organizing my underwear drawer, cleaning out my closets, decluttering my life, etc.), I plan to spend more time with my family and hopefully help babysit any grandchildren that I hope will come our way in the future. My other interests are quilting, scrapbooking, and reading. I can't even imagine what it would be like to just get up whenever you want and do whatever you want, but I do hope to find out next year!

Who I want to see at reunion:
I hope that everyone who is still breathing and mobile will try to make it to the reunion. It is so much fun to reconnect with everyone and find out how everyone's life turned out. Personally, I would like to see Jay White, Mike Warren, and Johnny Williams at the reunion. We have never been able to find these guys so it would be great if they just showed up. Hey Everyone!! We are not getting any younger, so please show up while you can!!! Hope to see ya'll there!

Surviving for 59 years! On a more serious note, being a science/math teacher and educating young minds. It is a real both a pleasure and enjoyable working with my high school students at Liberty HS.

Favorite high school memory:
I have many favorite memories, but I believe achieving a 1st division rating at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble contest ranks the highest. Also, just having some good friends during those impressionable years.

Something about me:
I lost my oldest son, Rex Jr., in a car wreck on Father's day 1999. Such a tragedy. My wife and have never been the same. To all my classmates -- a word of wisdom -- cherish your children and grandchildren because life sometimes deals you an unexpected card! A card that rips your heart out!!!

Who I want to see at reunion:
"Wizard" Barnes, of course. Robert Pearce (the best catcher ever). Gary Clarke and Ken Hicks (like brothers to me). All the Lynchburg rats including "Sherrie Divin" (my 1st love!!"

What I am most proud of:
| During the time of the Deer Park Class of 1968's ten year reunion, I was fully embarked upon my first "Journey" which began with a quest to climb Katahdin, the northernmost mountain on the Appalachian Trail. That Journey involved all of the summer of 1978 and most of the summer of 1979. The transverse along that mountaintop path resulting in my taking five million steps; traveling over 2000 miles afoot. The long hours endured walking alone on that path gave me much time to think about my life and what I wanted to do in my future. I must say that nothing else since has had such an impact on my life in setting and helping me achieve my life goals.
Please see my web site http://thewayfarersjournal.com for more information. |

Favorite high school memory:
| My first thought is that just graduating from high school was my most favorite memory, but I would be the first to admit that there were some good times while in school and those good times would have to do with the extracurricular activities that I was involved with: track, football, industrial arts and the French club. Of course track was up their with the best because I lettered on the varsity team twice. I lettered in my junior year by receiving a fraction of a point at the district meet when tying for sixth place by high jumping over my height of five foot, ten inches. Also, as the track season progressed, the team dwindled in number which resulted in fewer people to spend the apportioned money for meals on. I remember after the last track meet, we went to the best seafood restaurant in Kemah, Texas and had the greatest meal. (I don't remember the name of the restaurant, but it was the one with the large fish aquariums.)
Still, the best of my memories have to include Mr. Oliphant's Architectural class, the Industrial Arts club and the fun we had going to the state competition at Texas A&M. I can still remember staying up most of the night all week long working on my architectural plans so as to have them completed in time for the regional competition just before state. (Those were the days when I could stay up past ten!) |

Something about me:
Well, I must say that up until the spring of this year (2008) I thought that my days spent embarked upon another Journeys were over and done with. However, I am constantly amazed at the fact that when I begin to think that I am settled, things go and change again in my life. All of us are being pressured with the economic bad times, well, me too. So, prayerfully, I began to search for a way to cope with these critical times and the direction was laid out in front of me. My next episode will take me to the southern limits of this continent and there I will visit the location known by the ancient indigenous peoples as Tenochtitlan. I also hope to visit the place where the Monarch butterflies go to winter. This area, from near Mexico City for over a hundred miles to the west is a high plateau in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where the weather is constant between 60 - 70 degrees. This first trip of about six months is primarily for the purpose of finding out if I want to move to Mexico. Before I return to Washington next summer, I will have decided if I will make Mexico my new home. I will be keeping a journal during my journey.

Who I want to see at reunion:
By the time you all are getting together for the 40th class reunion, I will have, much like the 10th reunion, already embarked upon my next Journey. However, it would have been nice to see: Bobby Black, Donna Bradley, Jan Cafey, Cathy Curlee, Foy Curley, Danna Daniel, Gary Dancy, Alan DeArman, Galen Garrett, Debbie Furman, Bob Hasler, Ken Hicks, Louis Howard, James Hunter, Richard Leonard, Auther Martens, Ray Music, Steve Oliver, Burnett Powell, Danny Reed, Lonnie Tanner, Tommy Wheeler and many others.

Something about me:
| When my 2 sons were small I completed nursing school and worked many years as an operating room nurse in Houston, Ga, and MA. We bought a property with a large barn and riding stable and this winter I have worked my buns off cleaning stalls and leading horses in and out of the snow. I must love it because I don't really get paid - I am a devoted animal person and at present have 7 beagles, 2 cats, 6 horses, 1 goat, chickens, ducks and a few people friends... My Mom, Gloria, is 86 and has lived with us for 8 years. She is a joy and a real trooper. We also run a small bed & breakfast. I'm beginning to think I'm getting too old for all this!! Our website is cloverhillfarm.net - drop in and drop a line.

What I am most proud of:
| I'm most proud of my husband, Dave, our three sons and granddaughter. Dave didn't know anyone and was used to driving on the wrong side of the road when we came over to live and has worked so hard in the Insurance and Investment Business.
After moving back from England 32 years ago, I'm proud to be an American. There is no place like America. Just hope we can keep it that way for our children and grandchildren. |

Favorite high school memory:
My favorite and funniest memories I have were from being in D. E. and Art Class. Art Class with Jim Wheaton, Tommy Newell, Mitch Baker, Danny Lawson, Larry Hill and Ray Marek was very interesting to say the least. Going to DE conventions and seminars were a lot of fun. Thinking back when I nearly got thrown out of the convention because they got me confused with another Karen Davis that had guys in her hotel room or the time when they had me listed as the wife of the DE teacher for a Houston convention. Of course it wasn't so funny when it happened. Sandra Davis, Keith Little, myself and several others went to most of the DE conventions. I also enjoyed going to the football games.

Something about me:
| After leaving High School I went to San Jac and still worked at Witt's Gift Shop and left there to work in the Art Department at Litho Printing in Houston. While working there, I went on a cruise out of Galveston in 73' and met my husband Dave Hilditch which had an English Group called the Dave Lee Set. He then asked me to marry him the week after the cruise. Month's later I sold everything and left for Europe to meet Dave in Amsterdam. I went with Sharon Aston which did attend Deer Park until 9th or 10th Grade. We both went to Amsterdam where they were playing. Sharon met the Drummer of the Band and they got married and now live in Tomball. After leaving Amsterdam we moved to England where we were married shortly after and lived in Gurnsey Channel Islands. Then we lived in England for a year. We then moved to Pasadena and opened up a Insurance office in Deer Park on Center Street. Later we moved to Crosby to raised our family. By that time my parents, sister and brother had also moved out here. I've been with a Nutritional Company for years and did Health Seminars with several Doctors which at this time I'm still interested in Health and Nutrition.
My sister Lisa Davis Day passed away Nov. 17, 2005 with Gall Bladder and Liver Cancer. She was with the Class of 1970. Really miss her!! |

Favorite high school memory:
Band trips, band camp, going to school in first grade and having my older brothers in the same building. living in Deer Park since I was 6 months old

Something about me:
we have wonderful grandchildren. We lost our granddaughter at 6 1/2 years with a rare genetic disorder. Her Dad (my son KC and her stepmom Jessie) have founded a charity called Markers for Munchkins, Leon and I very involved in fund raising to help them furnish tombstones for unmarked children's graves. Our Kylie was such a joy, God has one beautiful angel now, we were blessed he gave us the time he did to enjoy this child.

Who I want to see at reunion:
I would love to see everyone. I haven't made the last 2 or three reunions so thinking 40 years might be the one to go to.

|
|
|

What I am most proud of:
Well, I've been married for 35 years to the same wonderful girl. That's a pretty good deal. My two boys growed (I know it is poor English) into fine young men. My daughter-in-law and grandchild are mighty fine too. Finally there are the many friends I have been blessed with the good fortune to make across this country and around the world.

Favorite high school memory:
There are just too many memories from our high school days to pick just one. Besides, my brain only partly worked in school and it's been 40 years now. Shucks! I look at our year book and I don't remember ever seeing half these people in my life. Then again, they don't remember seeing old Randy either. There are the great teachers that helped prepare me for the future, the classmates that made everyday different and enjoyable, and attending football and basketball games.

Something about me:
I reckon I've had a pretty ordinary life. I have spent a great deal of time outside Texas since graduation. Six years in the Navy and four years in the Coast Guard helped me do that. Then there are the thirty years as an evangelist that has allowed me to move around. I lived in Texas (of course), Arkansas, Oklahoma, California, Washington, British Columbia, and Norther Virginia/DC. Finally we were able to get back to the beautiful heat and humidity of Texas. I have also spent six years working in hospitality. I wrote a motivational missive on the internet for several years called, Just A Thought. I suppose after all these years I'm just a low key, easy going guy with a dry wit--born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and reared in Deer Park. Just your basic 'nut'.

Who I want to see at reunion:
I hope to see everyone. I reckon I can't be too picky at this age. Just gettin' out of bed a kickin' every morning means the day has started off on a pretty good note. I really just look forward to seeing everyone. I truly hope you are all doing well.

|
|
|

What I am most proud of:
I am most proud of my family. My husband, Gary, and I have been married for almost 36 years and we have two sons who mean the world to us. I am also proud to be the daughter of my parents and the sister to my three younger siblings, David, Paul, and Amy. We are all close and get together as a family several times a year.

Favorite high school memory:
To tell you the truth I have forgotten most of those days. However, I do have fond memories of being in Mr. Escobar's choir class. I remember being in choir with Charles Pritchett and being quite "smitten" with him. We dated for a few months before he broke it off. I was heartbroken for quite a while after that. But it all worked out for the best when I met my husband at North Texas State University. The rest is history...

Something about me:
Well, I am now in my 26th year as an educator. I taught elementary school for the first 8 years and then went back to NTSU (now called University of North Texas)with two small boys at home and finished my masters degree in library science. I then began working as a school librarian as I am today. I am both the middle school and high school librarian for Giddings ISD. We have lived here four years now. I plan to retire in another 3 or 4 years. I don't know what I will do next but I know that I won't stay at home. I like to keep busy. Maybe they will still be hiring "Greeters" at WalMart!

Who I want to see at reunion:
Of course, I want to see my best girlfriends...Lois, Dana, Melanie, Vickie, Carla, Debby, etc. We have had some nice lunches together in Brenham. We got together most recently last July and had a good visit. It is always fun to see people that you haven't seen in a long time. I am looking forward to the reunion.

What I am most proud of:
My family--my husband, (Ronny), 2 daughters (Lori & Kristi), 2 sons-in-law, 1 gorgeous granddaughter Heidi, (she's near Austin--so we've retired close to see her often)!!!

Favorite high school memory:
I remember some of my favorite teachers that made class fun and those that didn't! Today I still know how to diagram a sentence and know the American and Texas history facts!! Especially cherished my friends I had known from kindergarten at Deepwater Elem. through graduation from DP in 1968!

Something about me:
My husband and I have been married for over 38 years and we met when I was 15-1/2! Couldn't date because he was overseas in the Navy. When he returned we married & had 2 daughters--I stayed home 14 yrs. with them. I worked 18 yrs. at a funeral home in La Porte while they were in high school and college. They both have their degrees and the youngest has her masters. Now Ronny and I have retired to Wimberley, TX and feed a herd of deer in our front yard and swing our granddaughter, Heidi on the front porch. We have a beautiful view of the Hill Country. I really love my life.

Who I want to see at reunion:
Vicki (Crickett) Barrington, Shirley Peebles, Claudia McFarland, Debbie McClenny, Rick Wood, Gary Dancey, Rick Schooley, Dana Daniels, Debra Furman, Melanie Manning, & Lois Medford (Rogerson). The gals may have different married names so I wanted them to know whom I meant!

|

What I am most proud of:
Being married for 34yrs.,having two great kids (that still live near us) and being a granny to three "rascal" grandsons! I'm also proud of the fact that my parents(who, I'm sad to say, both passed away in 2008) and my two sisters and I all chose to be educators. Teachers inspire children to always do their best and make a difference in this world.

Favorite high school memory:
I loved choir and all the friends that sang with me and made me laugh!! I loved Super Trent's class and laughed so hard in Mr. McBee's class when the guys would shoot spit wads and once someone climb out the window when he wrote on the blackboard(a valuable lesson I remembered when I became a teacher.... don't turn your back on a class while writing on the chalkboard. HA! HA!) I loved choir concerts, singing solos at UIL competitions and the senior play. I loved running around with my boyfriend,Steve Higginbotham and his friends, who also became my friends. My three years at Deer Park HS were lots of fun because of the friends I made during those years.

Something about me:
My husband and I own a farming business. It was his family's business , but now we are the only ones left working lots of acres!! Would you have ever guessed that a teacher's daughter (city slicker) would one day drive tractors, unload and drive 18-wheelers (only on our place), so don't worry, I'm not out there on the open highway! I taught for eight years, kindergarten and second graders at Hutto ISD, when it was grades K thru 12th in the same building my husband graduated from. Hutto is now one of the fastest growing communities in the state of Texas. I still sing for my church, the Round Rock Community Choir, the national anthem at one game a season at the Round Rock Express, weddings and funerals. I love sharing God's gift whenever I have an opportunity. My oldest grandson is in kindergarten this year. I'm babysitting my newest grandson. He's 4 months old. My 4 year old grandson joins us at least twice a week, too!! Wow! This ole' gray mare ain't what she use to be!!HA! I enjoy my Aggie Moms club, too. Life has been good to me and I have truly been blessed.

Who I want to see at reunion:
I'd love to see my choir buddies and all the classmates that I ran around with.My girlfriends,Jan Caffey,Susan Redd, and Cathy Curlee,to name a few. You know who you are. I will also miss those who have gone to their heavenly home. I know their presence will be felt while we reminisce good times at the reunion... Danny Shultz,Ray Mareck, and Mickey Mansfield, just to name a few.

What I am most proud of:
I am very proud to be the father of two fine daughters with four wonderful grandkids. I have been blessed to serve our great State and nation in the Army as a tank battalion commander and achieving the rank of Colonel. I am also very proud of my wife of five years, Michele, who is serving as a Lieutenant Colonel with the Texas National Guard in Austin.

Favorite high school memory:
My senior year. Finally got to have a little fun. I especially enjoyed being in the initial D.E. class at Deer Park with Mr. Pass and a lot of fine folks.

Something about me:
It's been a pretty good life so far. After graduating from UH, I went into the Army and spent the next 30 years in the military, mostly with the Texas National Guard. Got to travel around quite a bit. I survived a heart attack and triple bypass surgery in '94 that taught me a big lesson about priorities in life. Went to Pennsylvania where I graduated from the Army War College in '98. Since my retirement in '02, I spent a year in Saudi Arabia helping to train their National Guard and another year in Afghanistan working with the Army. I'll probably go back overseas this spring. The war business is "booming" right now.

What I am most proud of:
I did it my way. It was not always the smartest or pleasurable path but I survived to enjoy life. I'm proud of my family, parents, ancestors, friends, ladies loved, batttles fought (VietNam 1970), and demons conquered. I'm proud to be a Deer Park classmate of 1968.

Favorite high school memory:
The senior trip to ViaCuna, Mexico 'Boys Town' and Garner State Park is a story for the Deer Park Archives. The history lesson MR Poe taught us, as he busted our butts, remains a memory: "Nothing is fair or unfair, its just there!"

Favorite high school memory:
There is not a "single" memory that stands out---I enjoyed my high school years. Hanging out with friends(Danna, Deb, Mel, Vickie, Carla,Brenda)---just having fun!!(Life seemed so much SIMPLIER in those years) I have been fortunate to be able to keep in contact with most of those friends and we get together a couple of times a year. Our hair has little more gray but we still have lots to laugh about and have fun.

Something about me:
I have been a sixth grade math teacher for 34 years. I love seeing that "light bulb" turn on when a student who did not have a clue finally understands that math is easy. I hope to retire in a couple of years. (The price I am paying for having my own children later in life!!) I can't wait to travel to all the places on my dream list.

Who I want to see at reunion:
I want to see everyone---EVERYONE. The reunions are really fun--there has not been one that I have not enjoyed. We had a great class and I hope everyone makes an effort to attend.
